Stay at Lekkerwater Beach Lodge over the next few months and experience the most exclusive section of Dehoop Nature Reserve and marvel at one of the most glorious coastal reserves in Africa. The stay includes some of the best land-based whale watching in the country as well as an array of activities that engage you in this marvelous setting. August, September & October offer the best months for whale watching as it is when the Southern Right whales arrive, congregating offshore to calve, mate and generally cavort in the warm seas. The bay in front of the lodge can be home to hundreds of whales at any one time.
Lekkerwater is set overlooking a six-kilometre stretch of pristine sand, the seven suites at Lekkerwater Beach Lodge have been carefully designed to let ocean views take centre stage. Floor-to-ceiling windows deliver remarkable sea vistas from every corner of the suite, while the protected outdoor deck provides a perfect oasis of privacy.
*Midweek (Mon – Thurs) – R2990 per person per night | Weekend (Fri – Sun) – R3250 per person per night
The simple design belies the luxury within, with room for proper beds in separated bedrooms, and a stylish bathroom with a large, unique shower, basin and toilet, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. All rooms have fans for those hotter nights and a spacious veranda, where you can enjoy the great outdoors, a quiet moment with a book or a coffee, completes the look. It’s perfect for couples, a family holiday, or a breakaway with friends.
A perfect slice of nature all to yourself
It is rare to find a place that is so isolated, yet so entirely nurturing. Perched up on the dunes, this intimate lodge offers a glimpse in to the Indigenous people who once subsisted here on this rich coastline. Warm hospitality, fresh and delicous meals, plenty of bubbly to enjoy in the wood-fired hot-tub, rock pools to explore and more fynbos to marvel at than you can imagine. Book out the place if you can, bring you friends and family, and immerse yourself in a few days of whales, wild beaches and plenty of special moments - all while not seeing one other person

An oasis close to Cape Town
We had been wanting to go to the De Hoop Reserve for a long time and were so blown away by the experience.
The whole feel of Lekkerwater is about being at home and it feels that way!
We also enjoyed the fynbos walk, and the beach walk, which were very informative.
